Obituary

Natalie Ann Tessier, beloved daughter of the late Homer and Cameron Geraghty Tessier, passed away peacefully at her home in Essex Junction, Vermont, on April 20, 2021.

Natalie was born in Glens Falls, New York, on May 30, 1949. She graduated from Warrensburg High School and attended Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont.

She was married to John Edward Herd for thirty three years until his death in 2001. Their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Herd, also predeceased her in 2004. She is survived by their son, Elihu Cameron Herd of Essex Junction, Vermont, her sisters, Rachelle and Margaret Tessier, and many cousins.

Natalie loved her husband and children profoundly and was deeply committed to social justice. She was also an excellent athlete. During her lifetime, Natalie worked for the University of Vermont and State Farm Insurance, but her favorite job, by far, was driving the school bus for the kindergartners of the South Burlington School District.

A celebration of Natalie's life will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to honor Natalie's life may contribute to the American Diabetes Association or the Humane Society.

Stan and I met Natalie and John when our boys were in school together. Extremely pleasant people with wonderful children. It was her saddest moment when she lost Sarah. We would go a few years and then see each other and it was like we just saw each other the day before. We’d catch up on Elihu and what she was doing for work. Every time I had the pleasure of catching up with Natalie she had a beautiful smile of greeting. I will miss her. My sincere condolences to Elihu and Natalie’s sisters.

I am very saddened by this! I have so many memories of Natalie growing up in Glens Falls. We were good friends, and I missed her when she moved to a different school! I lost contact with her, and had no idea she was in Vermont, so close to GF. I wish very much that I had seen her again in life, but her wonderful memory with stay with me, it always has!!! With greatest sympathy, Barbara Patton Monroe.

I will always remember our shared experiences, driving around in Genevieve. Meeting John for the first time. How happy she was. She loved her children to the ends of the earth and back. My love and HIS surrounds you all. MaryEsther
