Jim was a veteran of World War II. Jim also served in the Army Reserves from 1951 until 1960. The discipline and patriotism learned in the Army never left him. Jim was honored as Grand Marshall of the Essex Junction Memorial Day Parade in 2010.

The family would like to thank Rev. Dear Valla family, I worked with Jim at IBM and he was a wonderful Engineer. He was smart, funny, never took himself too seriously and really was one of the pioneers that helped make semiconductor chips part of our everyday lives. Please be proud of his memory knowing he touched a lot of lives in a very positive way. Regards, Lynn Powers
