Obituary for Douglas McColl Buckley

Douglas McColl Buckley
Douglas M. Buckley I, 72, of St. Albans, VT, passed away peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer on January 13, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Born in Barre to George and Dorothy (Tucker) Buckley, his family then moved to St. Albans where he attended high school at BFA. Following high school he graduated from Vermont Technical College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. On July 10, 1965, he married the love of his live, Paulette (Pelkey). Doug worked in a number of factories over the years using his degree. He loved working and providing for his family.
Doug spent 52 years as a volunteer fireman for the St. Albans City Fire Department. He enjoyed listening to music, especially Jazz. He was an avid pool player. His greatest joy in life was being surrounded by his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Beth, Dougie, Conrad and wife Naysha. Grandchildren, Bailey, Hailie and Abigail. He is predeceased by his parents, wife, brother Bruce, granddaughter Jordan, and son in law Allen Miller.
Doug’s family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Ades and his entire team at the Vermont Cancer Center and to the palliative care team at the UVM Medical Center. Along with Tabitha, Lindsey and Sasha at St. Albans Health & Rehab for the amazing care he received in his final days.
Per Doug’s wishes the family will have a private interment. The family will hold a memorial gathering at a later date; if you wish to attend the memorial gathering please leave your contact information below.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the Vermont Cancer Center at http://www.med.uvm.edu/uvmcancercenter/give-to-the-uvm-cancer-center/ways-to-give
