Dennis “Yogi” Wortheim Obituary

Dennis “Yogi” Wortheim, 67, of Bolton, Vermont, passed away on September 23, 2026.

Yogi was an outdoorsman and a lifelong lover of horses. He was riding horses before he could even walk, and that love of horses remained a special part of his life. After graduating from MMU, Yogi made his living driving tractor-trailers and later dump trucks.

He eventually took over the family pony ride business, where one of his greatest joys was seeing the excitement on children’s faces as they rode the ponies. He especially loved when children returned and remembered the ponies by name. Those moments brought him great happiness.

Yogi loved anything that involved being outdoors, his scout, and his friends. He enjoyed participating in mud runs with his scout and exploring the logging trails with his buddies from the Brandon area they called themselves the “low budget boggers”.  He also loved four-wheeling with friends along the trails in and around Richmond especially when they could stop for a barbecue lunch. There were many evenings spent at the garage with friends “tinkering” and “BSing”(iykyk)

Fishing with his brother, Donald, was another favorite pastime, but hunting held a particularly special place in Yogi’s heart. He loved hunting with his family and would save his vacation time for deer hunting so he could spend those days at deer camp on the family farm. The time spent there with family was something he treasured.

Yogi was a man who enjoyed people. He loved to talk, joke around, and make those around him laugh. He will be remembered for his easygoing nature, his sense of humor, his love of the outdoors, and, most of all, the many memories he created with his family and friends. Yogi was predeceased by his mother, Virginia Burnell Wortheim, on August 5, 2010; his daughter, Amanda Dennis, on November 9, 2020; his father, Stanley Wortheim, on October 9, 2021; and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his brothers, David Wortheim and his wife, Anne, of Tennessee; Donald Wortheim of Vermont; and Dan Wortheim and his wife, Sarah, of Maine; his sister, Deborah Mobbs; his granddaughters, Dixie Miller of Vermont and Noelle Bright of Vermont; and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Yogi will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His stories, jokes, love of the outdoors, and the memories he made with those around him will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

The family would like to thank UVM Hospital McClure 6 Nurses, LNAs, PAs and Drs and McClure Miller Respite House for their kind care of Yogi.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on October 10, 2026, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at Jericho Congregational Church. Light refreshments will be available.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to McClure Miller Respite House 1110 Prim Rd, Colchester, VT 05446 or online UVMHealth.org/HHH/Donate
