Ernest G Blodgett Jr. of Fairfax, VT born in Littleton, NH in1946, died in the early hours of Sunday morning, September 13, 2026, after a long series of illnesses, against which he battled bravely. He lived an amazing life, and left behind a much loved family of partner, siblings, cousins, nephews,  nieces, and friends, who made his life full and rich with love and belonging.

He was many things to many people, and he will be remembered as a special human being who contributed greatly to the world he called his own. He was many people and each of them contributed to the lives he touched. He will be remembered as a genuinely good human being who contributed much to the world.   He always sought to see the good in people and in life. Genuine and true, his philosophy began and ended with, “It is what it is.”

An incomplete list, he was: soldier, veteran, protector, hunter, friend, lover, learner, speaker, believer, camper, brother, uncle, skier, tourist, storyteller, saver, foodie, climber, fly fisherman, helper, thinker, reader, scientist, horticulturalist, student, teacher, grower, and advocate. An incomplete list, he filled his life with story. He so loved this land and its people.  We will honor his memory by sharing his story.

We will gather to do just that on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the A W Rich Funeral Home at 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. burial will follow at St Luke Cemetery …both in Fairfax, VT.
