Matthew J. Parisi Sr. Obituary

Matthew J. Parisi, 95, of Underhill Ctr., VT passed away with family members by his side on August 14, 2026.  Matt was born on January 29, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA to Michela and Vito Parisi.

Matt graduated from Northeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia, PA.  He joined the US Airforce in December, 1950.  He trained in radar operations and was stationed in St. Albans, VT in 1951, where he met his wife of 70 years, Mary R. Muldoon.  After marrying in 1952, Matt was deployed to Fontainebleau, France where they lived for 3 years and their first two children were born.  They traveled extensively throughout Europe during this time.  After returning to the US, they settled in Underhill Ctr., VT where their other two children were born.

Matt (aka “Pops”) began his career in masonry which turned into a lifelong business, Parisi Masonry.  Matt was a true renaissance man with multiple interests and talents.  His passion for learning included music (a trumpet player with his own band; he also loved to play the piano daily-especially at happy hour), antique car restoration (including 1929 Auburn), sports fanatic (go Phillies; and founder of a men’s softball league which included 14 teams in Chittenden & Lamoille counties that he managed for 45 plus years), builder (including Underhill stone house & Newark Pond camp) storyteller, fisherman, conversationalist (he never met a stranger), geography nut, traveler (especially New Smyrna Beach, FL & Italy), and a huge old movie buff.  Matt was strong in his Catholic faith.  He attended mass weekly and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was a true gentleman who shared laughter, compliments and gratitude with everyone blessed to know him.

Matt leaves behind his 4 children, Mindy Parisi (Ernie Eldred), Cathy Weymouth (Bob Linde), Matt Parisi Jr., and Roberta Parisi (Brian O’Toole): 7 grandchildren, Dustin Aldrich (Diana), Maria Weymouth, Matt Parisi III (Jenn), Brad Weymouth (Jamie), Dominique Parisi (Josh Senna), Francesca Parisi, David Parisi (Madi Labounty): and 6 great grandchildren.  Matt is predeceased by his wife, Mary R. Parisi, his grandson, Benjamin Parisi, his parents, and his siblings Vito Parisi, Gabriel Parisi, and Elizabeth Wall.

The family would like to thank the Live Well companions (Rebecca & Natalie), the UVM VNA Hospice Team (Jim and Jen), and the compassionate team at the McClure Miller Respite House.
