Edward Leo “Eddie” Campbell, 85, of Essex Junction passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026 at McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester following a long and courageous battle with cancer.  He was born on March 29, 1941 in Colchester to the late Leo and Ethel (Gonyeau) Campbell.  Eddie was proud to have served for six years with the US Navy.  He married the former Jacqueline Normandin on September 19, 1964 in Winooski, whom after almost 62 years of marriage he still lovingly called his “Bride”.  They soon welcomed their first son Brian and Kevin followed a few years later.  In the early 70’s the family moved to Essex Junction where he resided until his passing. 

Eddie worked for Vermont Transit for 36 years retiring in 2005.  Over the past 20 years he worked for Heritage Toyota, Goss Dodge and other local dealerships doing car swaps for them when needed.  After retirement Eddie and Jackie went on many cruises to the Caribbean, long extended vacations to Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach and many other warm and relaxing places, always near an all you can eat crab buffet, making sure to stop at his son Kevin’s home in North Carolina to float in the pool and catch a NASCAR race before heading back to Vermont.  He also looked forward to Sunday’s watching NASCAR (with a friendly side bet with Jackie as to whose driver was going to win), spending time with his son Brian at camp and all the fish fry’s he had, visiting with his many friends at the VFW and relaxing on the swing with his bride.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Jackie Campbell of Essex Jct., his son Brian and wife Lisa Campbell of Colchester, Kevin and wife Kara Campbell of Conover, NC, his brother Paul Campbell (Sue) of Burlington, four grandchildren Staci (Will), Jessica, Allison (Brett) and Kyle (Kenzie) all of North Carolina and seven great grandchildren, Aden, Ayanah, Maia, Sam, Kameron, Evelyn, Emerson and four grand dogs.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for all the assistance afforded to them from the Visiting Nurses and McClure Miller staff.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday August 24, 2026 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel.  A memorial service will be held in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Randolph Vermont on Tuesday August 25, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. where full military honors will be accorded.  Memorial contributions may be made in Eddie’s memory to McClure Miller Respite House.  Please visit www.awrfh.com to share your memories and condolences.
