Elaine Olga Badger, 79, of North Wolcott passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 9, 2026, at UVM Medical Center after suffering multiple injuries in a tragic car accident. Direct Cremation Services thru AW Rich Funeral Home in Fairfax is in charge of her remains and that of her constant companions. She was born at home in North Wolcott on August 12, 1946, to Daniel Sargent and Olga Newcomb Lawson. She spent her entire life in the Lamoille and Caledonia County area.

Early in life, Elaine developed her love for animals, especially horses and kitties; both of which she owned several of them in her lifetime. Her 3 kitties - Dolly, Misty, and Tiger - were her constant companions in the past several years, giving her comfort at home when she didn't feel like going out with family or friends. Learning to play guitar and sing in her childhood years fostered her love of music,often singing along to a Country Oldie. You might also see her dancing to a Country band at her local VFW on a Saturday night or playing music with her band's buddies on Monday evenings.

During the winter when it was hard to get out, she could be curled into her chair with a romance story in front of her fireplace.  Perhaps, she might call up her family and have some lunch and play some cards or some dice games. No matter where she was or what she was doing, she was always concerned about everyone around her. If you were lucky enough to be a part of her "family" circle, she loved you and wanted to make sure you were taken care of and doing the best that you could be.

Anyone who knew her over the years knows that Wreath making season was like tax season for her - so busy she barely had time to stop and pee! Making wreaths was a talent that was passed down to her from her mom, Olga, and she was proud to carry on the tradition of delivering the best wreaths around to her customers.

Elaine was married and divorced from Red Badger. She then moved back to North Wolcott to make her home there. Later in her life she met a longtime partner, Raymond Foote, who treated her like a queen as she deserved. He predeceased her.

She was preceded in death by her mom, Olga Newcomb Lawson, her stepfather, Merlin Lawson, and her father, Daniel Sargent. She also was reunited at Heaven's gates with her brother James Farrand, brotherin-law Bruce Drouin, an infant daughter, and her best friend and cousin Betty Tulip. Also dancing and looking down on us are many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Surviving her and doing their best to carry on her legacy are brother Roland Sargent Sr of Eden and partner Nancy Turner of Milton, sister Marie Droiun and family of Conway, NH, special niece Valerie Sargent-Mayhew, her husband Kenny Perry of Cabot, and her daughter Hazel Kidder and granddaughter Honesty Kidder of Morrisville. She also leaves behind her irreplaceable neighbors, Robert and Donelle Vize. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will also be missing her smiling face.

Visiting hours will be on Saturday, July 25 at the Wolcott Methodist Church from 10:30 - 12:00 noon. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 in Craftsbury at the Wild Branch Cemetery. We will then gather back at the Wolcott Methodist Church for some food and great stories. If you would like to donate a food item for the gathering, please let us know.
