Gloria M. Askew, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2026. She was born on December 29, 1931, in Stamford, Connecticut. The family moved to a farm in Berlin in 1964.

Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William H. Askew; her sons, Donald “Donny” Askew and Robert “Bobby” Askew; and her daughter, Patricia "Patti" Askew-Dam.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her grandchildren Amber Walton and her husband, Michael, Leslie Fisher, Sarah Dutcher, Donella Askew, Nicole Dodge, and Kristen Geake; great-grandchildren Keyana McKenzie, Jordan Barany, Jayson Fisher, Loretta Dutcher, Wyatt Henrie, Aniya Jackson, Rykesh "Shawn" Spratley, and Nevaeh Spratley; great-great-grandchildren Lay'oni McKenzie and Weston Dickerson and son-in-law, David Dam (Patti); and daughter-in-law, Karen Askew (Donny).

Gloria's greatest joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and treasured every moment shared with them. She was also blessed with many dear friends and neighbors whose companionship meant so much to her throughout the years.

An animal lover at heart, Gloria especially adored dogs and always enjoyed the company of her furry friends. She could often be found browsing yard sales and flea markets, happily searching for a bargain and the next hidden treasure. Her kindness, warmth, sense of humor, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures touched everyone who knew her.

Gloria will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her generous spirit, and the many memories she created with those she loved. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through the generations of family she leaves behind and the countless lives she touched.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the friends, neighbors, caregivers, and hospice staff who provided Gloria with comfort, care, and companionship.

A celebration of Gloria's life will be held on Thursday, July 23rd at 9:00 am at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 487 Furnace Road, Randolph Center, Vermont 05061 where Gloria will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, William H. Askew. Friends and Family are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well lived and a woman deeply loved by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice or a local animal rescue organization in her honor.
