Devin C. (Mason) Hensel, 34, of East Fairfield, Vermont, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on June 9, 2026.

Devin lived life on his own terms and found joy in the simple things. He loved gardening, living off the land, Pokémon, and pandas. Devin was also a proud Boy Scout in his younger years, an experience that reflected his love for nature and self-sufficiency.

He had a deep love for reading, sparked by the Harry Potter series, which inspired a lifelong passion for books. A proud Ravenclaw, Devin believed everyone should know their Hogwarts house placement, treating it as a rite of passage and a true test of personality.

As the eldest sibling, Devin took great pride in his role and carried the responsibility seriously. He deeply loved his brothers and sisters and valued family. Those who knew him will remember his independent spirit, his great sense of humor, his love for his family, and his caring heart.

One of Devin’s greatest joys was Ethan. He was a devoted father figure to Ethan, whom he considered his own son and loved deeply. The bond they shared was a source of great pride and happiness in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Alexis Hensel; his mother, Sarah Gentley and her husband, Gilles; his biological father, Michael Mason; and Michael Hensel, who helped raise him. He is also survived by his siblings, Cali Mason and her daughter, Nova, whom he cherished; Hannah Gentley; Aylina Gentley; Michaela Hensel and partner, Essa; Andrew Hensel; and Madison Hensel.

He is further survived by his maternal grandfather, Chester Frenn and his partner, Audrey; his paternal grandmothers, Fran Mason and Marilyn Hensel; Ethan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Devin was preceded in death by his beloved first love, Mariah; his maternal grandmother, Katie Newcomb; his paternal grandfathers, Steve Mason and Steve Hensel; and his newborn nephew, Zakariah.

Though his time here was far too short, Devin leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His family finds comfort in the love he shared and the memories that will remain forever. A Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Christian Church, 34 Centre Road, Milton, VT 05468, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.  Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the life of a man who will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Devin’s memory to the World Wildlife Fund, honoring his love of pandas and nature.
