Obituary for Anthony C. “Tony” Hunt

Anthony C. “Tony” Hunt, 51, of Enosburg Falls, passed away in a fatal car accident on May 8th, 2023. He was born October 5th, 1971, in Morrisville VT to Elroy and Linda (Shedd) Hunt. Anthony grew up in Enosburg and graduated from Enosburg Falls Junior-Senior High School in 1989. He went on to study Mechanical Engineering at the Community College of Vermont. Early in life,

Anthony realized the passion he had for architecture, construction, and engineering. After receiving a certification from CCV, he started his own construction company and took pride in the wide range of services he offered his clients. This “Courteous Handyman” worked on various construction jobs around Franklin and Chittenden counties, and he was proud to point out a house he painted or a porch he built when driving around with him. He found his calling and spent every day of his life committed to his business, his family, and would go out of his way to help those in need. When he was not working, he could be found outside enjoying nature. Whether that was maintaining his property, tinkering on engines, gardening, caring for his animals, fishing, sitting by the brook, or four wheeling and snowmobiling with his kids. He was kind, creative, enthusiastic, and his playful demeanor always led to deep laughter and silly jokes.

Anthony leaves behind his father, Elroy Hunt of Enosburg Falls, his significant other, Terrie Santaw of Enosburg Falls, his ‘little buddy’ Joshua Remillard-Hunt and his wife Thelma of Keysville NY, his ‘princess’ Lindsay LaCross and her husband Brandon of Saint Albans, his ‘angel’ Marissa Olson of Hardwick, his ‘butterflies’ Madison Barbour and Abagaile Hunt of Richford, his sisters, Penny Degree and her husband Delbert of St. Johnsbury, Tyconia Westover and her husband Richard of Enosburg Falls, Tonia Hunt of Forrest Grove OR, his grandchildren Rylan, Sorin, Scarlett, and Octavius, and his ‘bonus children’ Treyvon, Treyonna, and Treysean. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is predeceased by his mother, Linda Hunt; his maternal grandparents Orson and Mary Shedd; his paternal grandparents Beverly and Walter Rivers and Orrin and Kathleen Hunt; his uncle Sherwood Smith; his grandson Salem Remillard-Hunt, and his niece Tabitha Degree.

Per Anthony’s wishes, a small graveside service will be held at the West Enosburg Falls Cemetery on Route 108 on Sunday, May 28th at 11 a.m. There will be a Celebration of Life service to follow at his father’s house in West Enosburg.
