Rootie was a jack of all trades master of none. He tried many vocations but never enjoyed any as much as working in the family snack bar in Swanton. He took pride in making his mother’s legendary French fries that were served for 30 years. Rootie was very talented, creative and artistic he would make birthday cakes for his niece and nephews and could create what ever they come up with. He would always be available to help them with any projects when they asked.

He is survived by the love of his life Shawna Lin Carter of Canada, step-daughter Cheyenne Tinker and her son Malachi of Canada who brought Rootie many smiles and much joy. Sisters Becky Root Johnson of Highgate Springs, VT, Sue Thibodeau of St. Albans, VT, nephews Clayton (April), Ben (Nicole), Hayes (Ashley), niece Jada (Jake) many great nieces and nephews. His friend and roommate Shane MacFadden who was a great help during his many battles and long illness. Friends Chris and Carole Greenwood who could always be counted on, along with many other friends and cousins.

Rootie was predeceased by his parents Turnip and Ruthie, his k-9 daughter Venus, brother in-laws Daniel Johnson (Becky), Richard Thibodeau (Sue) and his very good friend Gary “Goober” Campbell.

Heartfelt thanks are owed to so many, Home Health, the Dialysis unit, the medical professionals at NMC, Baird 4 and the hospice/palliative care unit, all the nurses, Amcare, and Missisquoi Valley Rescue. A special thanks to his sister in-law Tina who was there to help ease him at the end and to Bonnie of Direct Cremation Services of Fairfax, VT
