Obituary for Reginald W. Cherrier

Reginald W. Cherrier, 96, of Fletcher passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at home with his loving wife of 76 years by his side. He was born April 28, 1926 in Fairfax, Vermont son of the late George and Hazel (Warren) Cherrier. Reginald was a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. After he returned home he married his high school sweetheart Norma Parker on November 2, 1946 in Essex Junction, Vermont.

Reginald worked for the State of Vermont on the roads and then International Harvester where he was a mechanic. He later retired from City of Burlington Parks Department.

Reginald leaves behind his loving wife Norma and his five children and their spouses, Edmund and Diane of Isle LaMotte, Linda Sweet of Fletcher, Judy and Allan Salter of Westford, Lorraine and Brian King of Fairfax and Gary and Angel Cherrier of Milton. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren Kelly & Joan Sweet, Karrie Ann & Bill Sweet Werneke, Douglas & Angela Cherrier, David & Sarah Cherrier, Matthew & Michelle King, Daniel & Chassidy King, Melissa and Adam Minor, Brandy & Shawn Lawrence, Scott & Jessie Salter, Jamie & Michelle Salter and Amanda Cherrier, 22 great grandchildren, his sister-in-law Margery Koslowski many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother and sisters and his son-in-law Robert Sweet.

Reginald enjoyed tinkering in the garage, working on small engines to building something out of wood. He made many pieces of furniture that we all have in our homes. He also enjoyed collecting stamps and worked on putting them in special books he had.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday February 24, 2023 from 1:00 pm until the hour of service at 2:00 pm at A W Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel. Burial will be held on June 2 at 1 PM in the family lot in Sanderson Corners Cemetery.
