Obituary for James J Belladella

James J Belladella of Isle La Motte Vermont formerly of Winsted Connecticut passed away peacefully at his home on October 12, 2022. He was born on August 22, 1945, to Salvatore and Viola Belladella. Jim worked for several years at Mitchell Saab in Simsbury CT, before opening his own shop. Chances are if you lived in Northern CT and owned a Saab you knew Jim.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing on Lake Champlain. It was not uncommon to see him out on his boat or on the ice late into the day pulling up the perch. He shared his love of fishing with his sons, and he enjoyed their visits immensely. He had a passion for collecting and enjoyed visiting antique shops and the Habitat for Humanity store. His home was always beautifully decorated with his collections, and he spent countless hours changing his displays based on the season or holiday. Friends were important to Jim, and over the years Jim made many friends in both Connecticut and Vermont. His trips back to Connecticut always involved reconnecting with his friends at the Berkshire Café or over a beer in his garage.

Jim leaves behind his long-time partner Sherry Britton and her children and grandchildren who affectionately called him “Grampa Jim”. Sons, James Belladella Jr and partner Sarah Westmoreland of Winsted, CT and Adam J Belladella and partner Jennifer Hazard of Winchester Center, CT. Loving friend and companion Shirley Karpinski of Winsted, CT. Brother William Hackett and wife Paula Hackett of Torrington, CT, Brother Robert Belladella of California, and sister Mary Ann Holmes of Winsted, CT. Nieces Erin Canniff and husband Christopher Canniff of Richmond, VT, Colleen Hackett and partner Michael Marsh of Winsted, CT. Great nieces Alexis Leifert and Michaela Marsh. Jim was predeceased by his mother, father, sister Gloria Hart and brother John Hackett.

There will be a memorial gathering for friends and family on Friday October 28th at 11 am at Saint Annes Shrine. Immediately after the service family and friends are invited come together for lunch in the Shrines reception hall. Donations in his memory may be made to Saint Annes Shrine on Isle La Motte Vermont.
