Obituary for Dorothy M (Zweeres) Gignac

Dorothy M (Zweeres) Gignac, St. Albans, VT passed away August 9, 2022 at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, VT with her daughters Sandy and Bonnie by her side. She was born in Swanton, VT on Feb 19, 1932 daughter of Willard and Josephine (Hakey) Zweeres. Dorothy was married to Ronald Gignac at the Church of the Nativity in Swanton, VT on August 19, 1948.

Dorothy and Ronald owned Gignac Studio on North Elm St in St. Albans, VT where she coordinated the setup for Ronald, the photographer. They coached their five daughters on a St. Albans softball team, The Indians for over 6 years. Dorothy worked for 19 years at Fonda Container. They loved going camping with their Scotty Camper with the five daughters and their families. They were always to be seen at their grandchildren’s sports, from stock car racing, baseball, softball, basketball, hockey, soccer and lacrosse. Dorothy always had a clicker she used to keep score. People would ask her what the score was and she proudly told them. She was always watching the sports section, horse competitions and parades.

Dorothy leaves behind her five daughters and their spouses. Sandra (John) Gagne, Susan (Jimmy) Brouillette, Anita Bouchard Gignac and Louie Bouchard, Judy (Alan) LaBounty, Bonnie (Larry) Hetrick, Grandchildren: Taber, Ty Brad, Laura, Lisa, Kyla, Rob, Angela, Tiffanie, Theresa, Bill, Danielle, Steve, Jay, Michelle, Cynthia, Andrew, Keith, Carrie, Ronnie and Andrew and 50 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Ronald Gignac on Jan 5, 2011, son-in-law Stephen Lawrence, Grandsons Chris LaBounty, Chris Beaulieu and Danny Poissant, her sisters Anita (Clarence) Honsinger, Shirley (Clifford) Patterson, brothers William (Hazel), Donald (Anne), Alfred (Joyce), Earl and Roy, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Guy (Lou), Gilles (Betty), Norman (Flo), John (Madeline) Gignac.

A very special thanks to the staff of Our Lady of the Meadows who for 9 years cared for our Mom with so much love and attention.

There are no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on August 25, 2022 at 11:00 am at Holy Angels in St. Albans, VT. Inurnment will follow in the family lot at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
