Obituary for Nancy F. Sullivan Hock

Nancy F. Sullivan Hock, 76, left this earth for a kinder place on Thursday, August 4, 2022. She is now pain-free and with so many other family members. Nancy was born in Harrison, NJ and spent many summers on the Jersey Shore. Over the years, Nancy never lost her love for the ocean and lived in several areas by the sea. More recently, she’d visit the MA and ME shores with her sister and friends when possible.

In her younger years, Nancy was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed the swim team, life-guarding, racing her boyfriend’s ’69 Corvette, tennis and organizing open-air concerts and community dances. Nancy graduated from Queen of Peace High School in East Orange, NJ. She worked many years in banking and eventually as a Loan Officer. She loved fashion and often dressed to accommodate all occasions. Nancy was proud of her Irish heritage and was actively involved in St. Patty’s Day Parades and could be seen wearing the green from head to toe. Of course, she’d be adorned in her red, white and blue for the 4th of July and Labor Day too.

Nancy had also been a bartender at a popular lakeside venue in Landing, NJ, where she lived for many years during and after her married life. Nancy adored her two sons, Richie and Chris. They were a huge light in her life, and she raised them with love through their teenage years and beyond. Sadly, Nancy endured the passing of her son, Richard, at 48 in 2017.

For more than 20 years, Nancy lived in Milton, VT with her sister, Diane. She took pleasure in dressing up and going out to the movies, and enjoying some waterfront dining, boat rides and picnics at the lake. In recent years, Nancy enjoyed word search puzzles, drawing and coloring, and still enjoyed going out to dinner and streaming movies.

Nancy was a woman of boundless compassion, consistently demonstrating great generosity and always expressing love and gratitude for family regardless of distance. She also supported several favorite organizations - world wildlife fund, national parks, wounded warriors, St Jude’s Hospital and more.

Nancy is survived by her sisters, Diane Sullivan, in Milton, VT, Rita Mary Neff and family in Keyport, NJ, her son, Christian Hock and his wife, Dominique, and grandchildren, Cameron and Scout, in Colorado Springs, CO, and Brendon, in South Carolina, and her great grandchildren, Luna, Zoey, Sarina and Aiyana in Colorado Springs, CO and her cousin, Rich McLaren, in Navesink, NJ.

Nancy was a loving, gentle and kind person, who always put her family first. She enjoyed her sweets and always loved the family dogs. Her family feels so blessed to have enjoyed her in their lives. She will be sorely missed and live forever in our hearts. God speed, Nancy, with love and light.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Milton on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please keep Nancy in your thoughts and prayers.
