Obituary for Carole (Tucker) Cross

Milton - Carole (Tucker) Cross, 70, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester following a courageous year long battle with pancreatic cancer. Carole was born July 9, 1952 in Colchester, VT. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Agnes (Crosby) Tucker.

Carole graduated from Essex High School in 1970. After high school, she started working for New England Telephone & Telegraph. She retired from the phone company after 24 years of service in 1995.

Carole married George Cross on January 20, 1973 at St. Luke’s Church in Fairfax. George predeceased her on April 22, 2006.

Carole’s favorite pastime was spending time with her beloved family and dear friends. Her favorite saying was “I just love it when we’re all together”! Her annual trips with her three best pals, known as “The Golden Girls”, (Jackie, Kathy, and Brenda) was something Carole treasured and would look forward to every year. Carole was an avid reader and would stay up til all hours of the night reading her steamy romance novels. She especially liked Harlequin romances.

Carole is survived by her sister Theresa Smith and her husband Reginald, Sr. of St. Albans, VT, as well as her brothers Robert and his wife Vicki of Sanford, NC and Richard and his wife Lorri of Fairfax, VT. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews whom Carole always thought of as “her kids”. She is survived by her uncle, Donald Tucker and his wife Patricia of Westford, VT along with many cousins as well as countless friends.

Carole’s family would like to thank all of her medical team. The care she received was outstanding and we appreciate their love and compassion. Most especially the end-of-life care she received at McClure Miller Respite House. The nurses, LNA’s, and staff not only took wonderful care of Carole but supported us through every step of Carole’s journey.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday September 15, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at A W Rich Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Feltz offering prayers. A graveside service will be held on Friday September 16th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ann Cemetery, Milton.
