Together, Michael and Karen raised five children. For many years Michael was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Essex. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, going for rides on his motorcycle, and attending his grandchildren's events. Being surrounded by his family is what made him the happiest.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his children, Aimee Hilliker and husband Mike, Keith Doolan, Charity Doolan-Fuller, Jeremiah Doolan and wife Paige, and Joanna Doolan and boyfriend Vic Stauffenberg. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Nathaniel Gibbs, Aria Hilliker, and Liam Mitchell. In addition, Michael leaves his brother, Daniel Doolan, seven brother-in-laws, and four sister-in-laws. Michael is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Beatrice and William Knight.

The family would also like to extend a special thanks to all the University of Vermont Medical Center healthcare staff that helped Michael from the start of his accident to the end. To name a few: Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Chason Ziino, Trauma Surgeon Dr. Margaret Tandoh, Orthopedic Resident Dr. Seth Moffatt and a special thanks to all the staff on McClure 3 where Michael spent most of his time.
