Joseph A. Purvis, 62, passed away on April 5th, at home with his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Burlington, Vermont, he was the son of Carol (Northrup) and James Howard Purvis. He held many fond memories of his childhood years spent in Edinburg, Mississippi, before returning to Vermont as a young teen. Joe was a devoted family man, husband and father. He loved and was always there for his family, friends, and his four legged children. Joe was very patriotic and was proud to have served in the US Army from 1973-1977. He enjoyed playing and watching sports and coached Little League Baseball. People close to Joe enjoyed his quick wit and sense of humor. His favorite pastime was playing golf. He also loved dogs and horses, watching movies, music, and playing chess.
Joe was predeceased by his mother and father (Carol and Howard), and his favorite dog and friend, Henry. He is survived by his wife, Diann (DiCostanzo) Purvis, and their sons, James and Daniel, his brothers Jimmy (and wife Lisa), Larry (and wife Deane), Michael (and wife Deb), and his sister Betty Mattice (and husband Michael).
You will live in our hearts forever.
