Obituary for Matthew Jacob Alexander

To the profound sorrow of those who loved him, Matthew Alexander died on December 27, 2021.

Born Matthew Jacob Noury in Barre, Vermont on May 18, 1987, Matt soon found his way into the hearts of many. He made his home with Debra Alexander for many years before proudly celebrating becoming an official member of the Alexander family on his adoption day, April 8, 1999.

He loved fishing, kayaking, football, basketball, and bounding into the swamp to catch the best frog for racing in the Williston Fourth of July Leap Frog contest. His pride in overcoming his fear of the water and learning to swim was only surpassed by the pride of those who celebrated that accomplishment with him. Among his “Kodak moments” was a trip to Disney World with his Mom Debbie and his siblings and grandmother. One of the highlights of that trip was the opportunity to “put the pedal to the metal” driving a race car. In keeping with his adventurous spirit, Matt (now known as Zander to many) tried his hand at flying a plane and built his own kayak, using it to traverse many miles on Lake Champlain.

A hard-earned milestone was the day that Matt graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School in June of 2006. Job well done! Matt's family remembers with a grateful heart those who provided support and guidance along the way.

Matt is survived by numerous family members and friends and was predeceased by several others, including his grandmother Dorothy, with whom he is now reunited.

Those who knew Matt are invited to spend some time in private, remembering moments spent with him and sending his spirit off with love. The family also invites you to share your memories and condolences by visiting www.awrfh.com.
