Colchester, VT – Catherine Doris Bergeron, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Colchester, Vermont on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Catherine was born in Burlington, Vermont on November 11, 1927, to the late Earl Dufresne and Beatrice (Beauchemin) Dufresne of Burlington.
Following graduation from Burlington High School in 1946 she worked for CP Smith’s appliance store in Burlington. She married Ralph J. Bergeron in 1949 and throughout their 60 years together they remained committed to their children and extended family, providing a home for their aging parents Beatrice and George (Cathy’s father-in-law, who affectionately called her “Kitten”). She attended mass locally at St. Mark’s Church and Holy Cross Church. Cathy was a talented seamstress and a prolific crafter who was happiest when she was at her sewing machine. When not creating she enjoyed gardening, baking, and gathering with family and friends. Cathy will be remembered for her big heart and her devotion to loved ones.
She is survived by her loving children Stephen Bergeron and wife Linda of Colchester and Diane Gilbert of Peachtree City, GA; daughter-in-law Debbie Bergeron and husband Dave Fitzwater of Monticello, KY; sister Priscilla Devoid of Burlington; grandchildren Chris Bergeron and wife Janet of Abingdon, MD, Sean Gilbert and wife Angela of Ashland, VA, Tracey Dengler and husband Hugh of Burlington, Corey Bergeron and wife Lindsey of Burlington, Keith Bergeron of Colchester, and Chelsea Kaigle of Charlotte; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Lord has taken Cathy to be with her loved ones that she has missed dearly—husband Ralph; children Dana Bergeron and Kathryn LaMoy, and brother Thomas Dufresne.
The family expresses their gratitude to the dedicated team of hospice nurses and support staff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 22 at 11 am at Holy Cross Church. A private burial will follow. Share your memories of Catherine by visiting www.awrfh.com.
