Obituary for Beverly Jane (Georgia) Peters

Beverly Jane Peters was born January 4, 1927 in Rochester, New York, near Trumansburg, the hometown of her mother, Blanche (Holton) Georgia. Her father, Willard Edwin Georgia, grew up on a nearby farm in Enfield, New York.

Beverly grew up in upstate New York, Upper Darby Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. She met her husband, John Peters, at a military dance in Teaneck, New Jersey. They were married in April 1953 and moved to his hometown of Santa Monica, California before settling in Culver City on Patom Drive where they raised Pam and Steve, and lived for over 50 years. She always maintained a fondness for the east coast, often reminiscing of her childhood years in Ithaca, NY being on the dock at their family cottage on Cayuga Lake.

Bev was a stay-at-home mom until Pam (now living in Colchester, VT) and Steve (now living in Erie, CO) were out of elementary school, at which time she became a nursery school teacher. She sang in the church choir and her beloved Marina Del Rey Singers, loved to play her organ and participated in all sorts of craft making including sewing, ceramics and Tri-chem painting.

Bev loved friendships with her numerous girlfriends, be it from childhood, high school in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Teaneck, New Jersey, Cazenovia College in New York, or those she made during her many years living in California including a sewing circle in the early 1960s, various ministries at Culver City United Presbyterian Church, the Marina Del Rey Singers; and of course family members including Jack's sister Elva Baker (husband Dwight, niece Janet and nephew Craig) in Santa Monica and his parents, John and Gladys Peters in Crestline, CA. Her younger brother, Eddie Georgia, raised his family in Grand Rapids, Michigan with his wife June and their two children Tony Lyn (Georgia) Stephens and Barry. In 2007 Bev moved to Vermont to be near her daughter, Pam, and her husband, Dirk Reith, where she quickly nurtured friendships at The Pines in South Burlington. After moving from The Pines she was blessed with a heartfelt group of caregivers at Mansfield Place in Essex Junction.

Photos, FaceTime, and visits allowed her to stay in touch with her four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to Pam and Steve, surviving family members include: grandson Shawn Reith and brand new bride Lindsey in Lakewood, CO; granddaughter Kristin Ordway and her husband Curt in Winter Park, Florida along with their three children, Cameron, Zachery, and Avery; granddaughter Alison Moon and her husband Jordan in Shasta Lake City, California and their five boys, Brydan, Cooper, Tucker, Hudson and Ruxton; and granddaughter Deanna Peters in Westminster, CO.

Bev died peacefully and in comfort on the evening of September 18, 2021 at Mansfield Place in Essex Junction, Vermont with Pam and Steve, the children she was proud of and so loved, by her side. We love you Mom.
