Obituary

Essex Jct., VT - Estelle Lillian (St. George) Ray of Essex Jct. passed away peacefully, after 5 years with Alzheimer’s, on February 17, 2021 at Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home. She passed only 3 short months after her husband, Patrick Ray Jr.

Estelle was born on May 16, 1943 in Central Falls, Rhode Island and grew up in So. Attleboro and Seekonk, Massachusetts. She graduated from St. Jean Baptist Academy, Pawtucket, RI in 1961. She was the second oldest of 4 children.

After high school, Estelle went to work for Texas Instruments in RI, where she met and married Patrick Ray Jr. on October 8th, 1966. They were married for 54 years. They moved to Vermont and she was employed at IBM for 3 years. After IBM she owned and operated her own business, Keyboard Associates, while raising her two daughters. She provided her transcription and secretarial services for 13 years in Burlington, VT and then for another 15+ years out of their home in Essex Jct., VT. She served UVM Medical Center, college students, lawyers and many others in the Burlington area.

Estelle had many talents, foremost her ability to have fun! She was an accomplished seamstress, gardener and redecorator. She enjoyed golfing, music, dancing, kayaking, camping, hiking, crafts and shopping. Every summer she looked forward to spending time with family and friends at Matunuck Beach, RI., her favorite childhood vacation spot and the place she loved the most.

Estelle is survived by her daughters: Kelley Robie and husband Ken, Milton, VT; Deborah Jenkins, Milton, VT; grandchildren: Kaylee and Kiera Robie, Milton, VT; Tyler Jenkins and fiancé Kelsey O’Farrell, Fairfield, VT; Nathan Jenkins, Milton, VT; and her brother Roger St. George and wife Lillian, Port Charlotte, FL; along with many nieces and nephews and her best friend Carol Dolan, MA.

She is predeceased by her husband Patrick Ray Jr. and by her parents William and Lucienne (St. Pierre) St. George, sister Pauline Salois, and brother Raymond St. George, all from MA.

A combined memorial service will be held this summer for both Estelle and Patrick. At the convenience of the family, a future date and time will be announced. The family invites you to share your memories and condolences by visiting awrfh.com.

We have just recently learned of Estelle's passing along with her husband Patrick Ray. My late husband Clark and Pat were best friends from Berlin, NH and although they did not see each other very often, we always kept in touch at Christmas time sending cards. I just realized this past Christmas we did not hear from them and mentioned this to my husband who found this obituary in the Conway Daily Sun newspaper. I am so sad to read this news and wish to send my deepest sympathy to the family. Your mom and dad were very special people and they will be missed. Farewell dear friends till we meet again.

We cannot begin to express our sincere sadness for the loss of Estelle. She was our friend, go to neighbor and such a lovely lady. We had so much fun together whether it was ceramics, bowling, golfing or just plain having a few on our front porch or her patio. She will be greatly missed!! Kevin and Polly Murdough
