Colchester - Juanita (Gillespie) Thomas, 92, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester. She was born in Jeffersonville on August 2, 1928, daughter of the late Aloysius and Clio (Scott) Gillespie.
Juanita taught school in Underhill Ctr and Cloverdale after graduation from Johnson Teacher College. She married Philip Thomas in 1950. After raising their 6 children, she enjoyed many years working for the VNA.
In her retirement years Juanita spent many happy hours antiquing, enjoying special vacations at the ocean and camping in Vermont.
Juanita is survived by her children Diane Roque and husband Michael of Williston; P. Scott Thomas and wife Norma of Underhill; Debbie Thomas of Jericho; Robin Marshall and husband James of Waterville; Brenda Adorisio and husband Jim of Essex Jct.; Wendy Champney and husband Albert of Jeffersonville, her brother Bert Gillespie and wife Lois of Waterville; sisters Rose Allen of Richford; Connie Edwards of Hyde Park; Priscilla Lykins of Middlebury; brothers in law Terry McNally of Pensacola, FL; Dennis Thomas and his wife Elaine of Waterville , grandchildren: Conan & Jeremy Roque, Bryan and Terrill Thomas, Katie Liberty, Derek and Kyle Champney, Kenny, Evan, and Emily Adorisio and great grandchildren Ethan, Damien, Sophia, Maryn & Grace
Juanita was predeceased by her husband Philip Thomas in 1997, her siblings Barbara Hughes, Maurice Gillespie, Robert and wife Jeanette Gillespie, Raphy and husband Stanley Devino, Roy Allen, and Naida McNally.
