Kevin Michael Barnes, 66 of Ferrisburgh, VT passed away on Monday December 21, 2020 surrounded by family at Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Nursing after a long battle with Dementia.
Kevin was born on May 23, 1954 in Burlington, VT to Richard and Constance Barnes. Kevin married his loving wife, Eleanor (Patti) Barnes, on September 21, 1985. Together they had two children, Kyle and Ashley. Kevin loved cars and owned and operated his own auto body shop for many years. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with friends and family and traveling. Kevin was known for his calm demeanor, sense of humor and heart of gold. Kevin loved dogs and had a very strong bond with his last dog, a black lab named Sadie.
Kevin is predeceased by his father, Richard Barnes; sister, Susan Favreau, and brother, Craig Barnes. Kevin leaves behind his mother, Constance Barnes of St. Albans; wife Eleanor (Patti) Barnes of Ferrisburgh; son, Kyle Barnes and fiancé Philecia of Starksboro; and daughter Ashley Barnes-Cota and husband Christopher of Fairfax. Kevin also leaves behind very close life-long friends Richard (Dusty) and Barbara Burns of Montgomery; and Rick and Candy Bessette of Shelburne. In addition, he leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
Kevin’s family would like to thank the staff at Project Independence in Middlebury, VT for their heartfelt support over the last year and a half. In addition, the family would like to thank the staff at Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Nursing for their exceptional care and compassion during Kevin’s final days. As per Kevin’s wishes, there will be no services held. Those who are able are welcome to make donations in his name to Project Independence - Elderly Services Inc.
