Meridan James Brooks, 78, passed away on Wednesday September 23, 2020 at his home in Essex Junction. He was born in Montpelier on July 30, 1942 son of the late Myron and Edrie (Luce) Brooks. Meridan proudly served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He had worked as an engineer for IBM for numerous years. On March 3, 1962 he married the former Shirley Dutil and was happily married for 58 years until her passing on their 58th wedding anniversary.
Meridan is survived by his son Leo Brooks and wife Laura of Maidstone, his daughter Sherry Brooks of Sheldon, son-in-law Donald Moser of Swanton, he had three sisters and two brothers that had predeceased him, 6 grandchildren Erin Moser, Benjamin Moser, Erik Moser, Owen Moser, Jeremy Brooks, Abbie Brooks, 2 great grandchildren Feya and Bentley, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Meridan had married the love of his life and loved cherishing her. After retiring from IBM his hobby was flying RC airplanes and helicopters, teaching himself how to play musical instruments like accordion, organ/piano, guitar, violin and harmonica, spending time with his love, his kids and grandchildren. Once his love of his life became ill he stopped his hobbies and took excellent care of her until she passed in March on their Anniversary all while battling reoccurring cancer. He was a man of few words but had a dry, quiet sense of humor that we all loved. He will greatly missed by all.
