Obituary

Essex Junction - Bill age 89, passed away on September 11, 2020 at Community Hospice in St. Augustine FL. after a valiant battle with heart failure and lung cancer. Bill and his wife Audrey moved in March, 2020 to Jacksonville Florida from Essex Junction to live in a continuing care community, Westminster Woods at Julington Creek.

Bill was born at home in Williston Vermont on June 21, 1931, to Arnold W. Larrow Sr. and Gladys (Kendrew), weighing in at 13 lbs. At an early age, Bill developed a passion for fishing, and much of his life was spent visiting many beloved fishing spots in Vermont, New Hampshire, Quebec, Ontario, and Florida.

He joined the Vermont Army National Guard before the Korean War, and was called to serve in Korea from September 1950-June 1952. When IBM opened in Essex Junction, Bill was proud to be one of the original 500 employees. He retired from IBM in 1990 after 32 years, and moved to North Port, FL with Audrey. They spent 24 years as a snowbirds, traveling Florida and elsewhere in one of the many campers he had, returning to Vermont each summer.

They returned to live in Vermont in 2013. Bill enjoyed the past 5 years at Pinecrest II in Essex Junction, where he played Bingo, Pass the Trash, and Wii Bowling in the company of the wonderful friends he made there. He also was a dedicated jigsaw puzzle fan, completing hundreds in the last 10 years. He was a life member of the VFW Post 6689 in Essex Junction.

His favorite times were camping near the water on both coasts of Florida, especially Marathon, and Sebastian Inlet and in later years, trout fishing at Back Lake in Pittsburg, New Hampshire. He also loved his daily trips around the Westminster Woods campus, stopping on some days to fish off the dock, feed the turtles, enjoy the wildlife, and watch the boats go by.

Bill leaves to mourn his passing his spouse Audrey (married 34 years) sons Dan (LeAnne), Mike (Barb), Bill (Aimee), Scott, daughters Lori (Dave) Farnham, Linda (Mike) Lunn and Christina Gerrow and stepson Eric (Celeste) Swarkowski. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, his brother in law Ed Young (Opal), sister in law Barbara Larrow and 10 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Arnold and Gladys, sisters Carol Young and Thelma Osborne and husband Lynwood, brother Wayne and nephew Todd Larrow.

Special thanks to Mike Koehler, Bill’s fishing buddy, who guided the boat on many successful trout fishing trips on Back Lake over the past 5 years, and to special nephew Rick Larrow who cheered his uncle with frequent calls from Hawaii.

Memorial contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 78, Colchester VT 05546-6307. Due to the COVID 19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be planned for June, 2021. The family also invites you to share your memories and condolences by visiting www.awrfh.com
