Jean Pike Bing was born in Cabot, Vermont, May 10, 1928. She was raised by farming parents, Carroll and Harriet, with her sister, Marjorie. Jean passed away peacefully at her home in Williston, VT on June 13, 2020.

Jean Pike moved to Burlington, Vermont at age 18, to attend the school of business in the secretarial program at Champlain College. She went to work at the New England Telephone Company and later met and married Robert Bing. Together they had three boys: Daniel, Brian and Randal. Jean suspended her career to raise the three boys and then went back when they were teenagers. She stayed long enough to bridge her time and retired from the company, which at that time, was called Bell Atlantic, now is called Verizon.

Jean enjoyed reading, doing crosswords puzzles and playing Mahjong among other hobbies. She enjoyed her many friends from Church and various organizations that she has been involved with. She is loved for her warm spirit, can-do attitude and generous nature. She is survived by Marjorie, Robert, her three boys and her Grandson, Jason.

Jean and the family would like to thank the UVM Home Health team for their amazing and tender care and all her friends that made meals, sent cards and poured love over the family in these last several months.

Jean was a wonderful human being. She was a kind and gentle woman. It was a pleasure to work with her over the years at the Telephone Company. She loved her boys with that big heart of hers and would do anything for them. I will never forget her generosity. She gave me a surprise bridal shower at her beautiful lake home in Burlington (1975) and she pulled it off! It was a total surprise! Thanks again Jean for being such a beautiful person and co-worker. So proud to have called you my friend!

Jean was in our yoga class held for the last few years at Fort Ethan Allen and taught by Janet Green. She was such an inspiration to us always getting into each pose in some form keeping up and frequently surpassing us in her determination. We will all miss her!

Jean occupies a special place in my memories growing up... she was so kind to me, always. I remember sitting with her as a 9 or 10-year old at their cottage on Lake Champlain while she was making curtains; she taught me how to tie the threads off at the ends of each seam. I think of her to this day every time I tie a knot. She was a special lady, with a wonderful sense of humor and warmth and graciousness. Sincere condolences and much love to her family.
