Obituary for Robert (Bob) George Conner

Robert G. Conner, Sr., 91 of Jericho, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. Bob, as he preferred to be called, was born on April 24, 1929 in Newport, VT the son of the late George Conner and Julia (Flanders) Conner.

Bob joined the Army and served in Korea. After leaving the Army, he met the love of his life, Bernice Nelson. Bob and Bernice were married in 1955 and lived in Jericho while raising an incredible family of one son and 5 daughters.

Bob worked as a truck driver and mechanic throughout most of his life. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #91 of Colchester and served as the Chaplain and a member of the Color Guard for several years. Bob loved music and dancing, reading, playing pool and spending time with his family.

Like his wife, Bob’s family was his pride and joy. He loved to spend time with his daughters and their families. Wendy Conner of Richmond and her daughters Chelsea Drinkwater and Melissa Skinner and grandchildren Jeren, Nicolai, Emma and Auriyauna. Pamela Conner of Essex and her children Broderick Hamilton and granddaughter Queen, and Shaina Foran (John) and grandchildren Illyanna, Amelia, Makinley and Kassie. Lori and Gary Delphia of Waterbury and children David Delphia and Kasey Grout (Kris) and grandchildren Isiah, Colby, Cameron, Alexis and Jacob. Barbara and David Liberty of Colchester and their children Julie Charlton (Bill), Amy Hamilton-Liberty, Robb Hamilton (Allysa), and Francine Liberty (Corey), and grandchildren Conner, Joseph, Skyler, Marissa, Caitlin, Elaina, Addison, Bentley, Khialyn, Michael, Abigail, Brooklynn, Kholden and Brixton.

Bob was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Bernice (2017), his son Robert G. Conner, Jr., (2002), daughter Lynn M. Conner (2005) and sister Helen Taylor.

Due to the pandemic currently ravishing our country, there will be no viewing or celebration of Bob’s life at this time. Inurnment, for Bob and Bernice, will occur in the family lot in the Jericho Center Cemetery at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Memorial contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to The American Legion Post #91 Color Guard.
