Obituary for Lyle Morris Bushey Sr.

Lyle M. Bushey, 78, of Saranac, formerly of Saranac Lake, passed away March 26, 2020.

He was born in Massena, NY on April 17, 1941, son of Leonard and Tilda (Dillabough) Bushey.

He worked many years as a mechanic at places such as Penske Power (Lodi, NJ), Hyde Fuel (Saranac Lake), Queior Paving, Inc (Saranac Lake) and owned his own automotive repair shop for a short time, Bushey’s Auto Repair (Saranac Lake). He was a respected Governor of the Saranac Lake Moose Lodge 457 during the 1980s.

During his younger years he loved hunting, when someone would go with him he convinced them to do the drive (be the dog) and push the deer towards him while he waited on watch. He loved fishing right up until he passed, he didn’t care what the weather or season was, if he had nothing to do, he went fishing. He loved watching NASCAR, baseball and old westerns on television. Jigsaw puzzles were also a favorite past time of his.

Lyle was a loving and caring father, grandfather and friend. The love of his family, especially his grandchildren, will forever be remembered. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his children Mona (John) Irvine of Ballston Spa, Sherry Hepler (Dan Barclay) of Lake Placid, Lyle (Jody) Bushey Jr. of Rock City Falls, Lynn Bushey (Dale Keysor) of Saranac, Leonard Bushey (Jolene Bruso) of Saranac Lake, Lisa Bushey of Tupper Lake. His grandchildren Steven Stangle, Christina (Mike) Stover, Alicia (Swade) Shattuck, Jamie (Mikey) Pettit, John Irvine Jr, all of Ballston Spa, Jessica (Torry) Hoffman of Lake Placid, Brock (Victoria) Hepler of Phelps, Anna May Barclay of Lake Placid, Olivia Bushey of Saranac Lake, Maxwell Bushey, Duncan Bushey of Rock City Falls, Randy (Melinda) Swinyer of Lowville, Caitlin Keysor, Conner Keysor both of Saranac, Michael Bushey, Matthew Bushey both of Saranac Lake, Shayla Tessier of South Burlington, VT. Ashton Bushey of Saranac Lake. Along with 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. His sister, Lillian Fletcher, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lyle was predeceased by his loving parents Leonard and Tilda (Dillabough) Bushey.

In full respect of Lyle’s finale wishes there will be no services. A private burial will take place at Harrietstown Cemetery at a later date.
