Obituary for Margaret Eleanor "Peggy" Stewart (Barry)

Fairfax - Margaret Eleanor “Peggy” (Barry) Stewart, 81, passed at The Manor in Morrisville on Friday, February 28, 2020. She was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on September 15, 1938 daughter of the late John and Audrey (Burbank) Perry. Peggy dedicated her life to service. Peg was a registered nurse her entire life. Working at Air Force hospitals and retiring her career after 27 years at Northwestern Medical Center. Peggy was a devout Catholic and maintained a strong faith her entire life. Peggy touched the lives of many in the community. She was a member of the school board for 14 years, volunteered in the Fairfax Community Library. Peg rarely missed a school/sporting event. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Care Partners in St. Albans, The Manor and Copley Hospital in Morrisville. Her doctors and nurses and care providers for their exceptional care they and their teams provided during her life with Alzheimer’s. You truly all blessed her life!

Peggy is survived by three sons Craig Stewart and wife Kym of St. Albans, Gary Stewart of South Carolina, David Stewart and wife Jennifer of South Carolina, two daughters Marlene Karr and husband Quentin of Fairfax, Carolyn Stames and husband Thomas of Morrisville, two brothers Robert Barry, John Barry and wife Roberta, two sisters Joan Soucy and Mary Barry all of New Hampshire, her sister-in-law Susan Stewart of St. Albans, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peggy was also predeceased by her husband Douglas and a granddaughter Pamela Stewart.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday March 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Church with Reverend Henry Furman officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
