Norbert Peter Pratt, age 89 of Essex Junction, Vermont passed away on January 14, 2020 at Maple Ridge Memory Care in Essex, Vermont. He was born in Burlington, Vermont on December 9, 1930, the son of Ernest Pratt and Hazel Pratt (nee Devino). Norbert graduated from Burlington High School, in 1950 and was in the Vermont Army National Guardand activated during the Korean Conflict. On February 14, 1953 he married his loving wife Martina McDonald in Burlington, Vermont.
Norbert was preceded in death by his wife Martina Pratt (nee McDonald) and his 6 siblings Ernest Pratt, Frank Pratt, Helen Richards, Daniel Pratt, Hubert Pratt, and Theresa Couture. He is survived by his six children, Thomas Pratt and his wife Nancy of Colchester, Vermont, Steven Pratt of Clarksville, Tennessee, Mark Pratt and his wife Patricia of Barton, Vermont, Brian Pratt and his wife Kelly of Essex Junction, Vermont, Susan Foy and her husband Brent of Centerville, Ohio, and Janet McCormick and her husband Michael of Jacksonville, Florida; his 14 grandchildren, Travis Pratt and his wife Lindsay, Ty Pratt and his wife Dannelle, Joey Pratt, Markie Pratt, Laura Johnson and her husband Bobby, Heather McSweeney and her husband Matt, Emily Pratt, Sarah Pratt, Caroline Geisler and her husband Shannon, Eric Foy, Joshua Foy, James McCormick, Connor McCormick, Taryn McCormick; and 12 great grandchildren, Kobe Pratt, Alex Pratt, MaKenna Pratt, Easton Pratt, Emma Johnson, Logan Johnson, Payton Johnson, Alanna Pratt, Adriannaa Pratt, Fionna Pratt, Tristen McNight, Markus Foy.
Norbert was a voracious reader and an excellent card player. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and watching his beloved Red Sox. He was always up for exploring the Vermont countryside, stopping to admire covered bridges, waterfalls, historic landmarks and picnicking alongside streams enjoying nature’s beauty.
The family would also like to express their thanks and gratitude for the wonderful care given to Norbert by the staff at Maple Ridge in Essex, Vermont.
Per Norbert’s wishes no public services will be held. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in the family lot in Holy Family Cemetery in Essex Junction, Vermont.
