Obituary for Mark A. Martin, Sr.

Northfield, VT - Mark A. Martin, SR 57 of Northfield, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington with his loved ones by his side. Mark was born on July 5, 1962 in New London CT. He was the son of Robert B. Martin and Patricia A.(Blodgett) Martin. He attended Harwood Union High School in Moretown VT.

Mark worked number of years for the company Auto master Painting in Barre until they had closed their doors and then went on to work at our family owned garage North Main Service in Northfield for a few years and then he started working at East Montpelier Home Center where he had to let go because of a back issue.

Mark enjoyed living life to the fullest. He also enjoyed a good deal as well as going to lawn sales and flea markets. Mark also enjoyed being outside especially camping on the Lamoille River. He enjoyed making things from wood as well and lots of crafts with his mother for Christmas gifts. He loved to cook our annual pig roast for his family and friends. He also loved to hunt and go ice fishing with his son Mark Martin, JR and grandson Logan Martin and friends.

Mark was well liked and had a special bond with his family. When his children and nieces and nephews were born, he gave them all nicknames. Mark enjoyed the last two winters in Florida where he enjoyed better weather than VT had to offer.

Mark is survived by his daughter Crystal Martin and partner Michael Byrd, their sons Jackson Byrd, Shane Byrd (AKA Bart) of Williamstown, his son Mark Martin Jr his children Logan Martin, Jennifer McCarthy, Caleb Martin of Northfield and daughter Aubrey Amellher sons Robert, Gabe of Northfield. His brothers Robert Martin III of Moretown, Jeff Martin and sister in law Leisha SR of Moretown, Timmy Martin and sister in law Kim Martin SR of Roxbury, Patrick and sister in law Angela SR of Brookfield, Corey Martin and Tika Carlton of Northfield with many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother Patricia A. Martin and father Robert B. Martin.

Mark was a past commander of the Sons of the American Legion Post 63 and a member of the Central Vermont boating club.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be given in Mark’s name to the American Diabetes Association or the American Legion Post 63 in Northfield.

A memorial service will be held at the Methodist Church in Northfield at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 1. Family and friends are invited to the American Legion in Northfield following the memorial service. Mark will be laid to rest in the Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center in the spring.
