Belvidere
Hugh Philip Tallman, 82, passed away on Sunday November 24, 2019 at The Manor in Morrisville. He was born in Burlington on May 26, 1937 son of the late Kenneth and Mary (Brown) Tallman. He married the former Myrna Louise Reed on August 20, 1960 in Belvidere, whom predeceased him on September 28, 2017.
Hugh worked for the Railroad prior to and after graduating from Cambridge HS in 1956. After working for Railroad he went to work for GW Tatro Construction driving truck and heavy equipment. He started his own excavation business in Belvidere that he ran for more than 50 years. During the winter months he would also plow driveways with his International Scouts at one time he was plowing over 100 driveways. Hugh and Myrna ran Tallman’s Store in Belvidere for 57 years.
Hugh had a passion for trains and railroad memorabilia, International Scouts, politics, planes & flying. He enjoyed working and setting off fireworks for Old Home Day.
Hugh was involved in several town offices over the years. He held the road commissioner position for 50 years for the Town of Belvidere, he was a select board member, on the planning commission board, LCPC member, CERT, Justice of the Peace, Board of Civil Authority and Assistant Fire Warden to mention a few.
Hugh loved politics and would happily chat with you for hours. He was chosen to be a delegate and attended the Republican Convention in Houston, Texas and NYC.
He is survived by his two sons, Dean and his companion Robin of Isle LaMotte, Thad and his wife Jodi, of Belvidere his daughter, Teal Tallman and her pair bonded mate Brent Howard, two brothers, Cecil Tallman and wife Jill and their family, Gene Tallman and wife Arlene and their family, seven grandchildren, Dustin Tallman, Trista Tallman and Marissa Tallman, Dana, Shayne and Dale Howard, Sandra Tallman, two great grandchildren, Seth and Sage Tallman, several nieces, nephews, cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel. Burial will be held in the Spring at the convenience of the family in the family lot in Belvidere Center Cemetery, Belvidere, VT.
