I am late to this news and deeply regret not being able to have attended the ceremony. I found out while in South Carolina at a wedding with friends from high school who all remembered Mr. Lumbra so well. We shared a few stories and laughs together in his memory. It's been many, many years but I still have fond memories of Mr. Lumbra and what a great man he was in this little wanna-be-big town, and of course, you all as well. My heart goes out to your family. ~Annie Calacci (Anne Jewett)

I remember Mr. Lumbra reffing basketball games and umping baseball games. Always knew that a fair game was going to be had when he had the stick. RIP sir!!!!!

My children and I all have great memories of Dick's kindness. I worked with him setting up a little library in the Jericho Elementary school. He had a whimsical sense of humor and had us laughing through the years. My latest memory of him was his brave attempt to stop a runaway truck on River Road in Underhill. He lived a good life, caring for family and community. I send sympathy and love to Jean and family. Jean Archibald (prev. Hotchkiss)

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Jean , and your family. I got to meet Dick about ten years ago and very quickly liked him. I learned that he was a very good person who spent most of his adult years helping students to find their way successfully through their learning years. I considered him to be a good friend to have been a part of my life's travels. I thank him for his many years of his services to his students education. We all have our problems to deal with and Dick had his. However he always did his best with the help of his Lord! May he rest in peace for a job well done.
Sincerely, Dick and Sheila Cross

Our condolences to Jean and the rest of the family. Marilyn and I remember meeting Dick when both the Art Gallery and the 4-H Department were upstairs in the grandstand at the Champlain Valley Fair. Jean was one of our wonderful artists and it was a pleasure meeting her husband. Dick was definitely passionate about youth and 4-H programs. We spent many afternoon and evenings sharing stories between visitors and viewing the 4-H posters and displays that Dick pointed out. Dick was kind and caring to all visitors, always lending a helping hand where needed. We enjoyed his company; he was a true gentleman!
