Obituary

Jessica died suddenly in her sleep on the 8th of August, just short of her 50th birthday, in the comfort of her own home.

Jess was a sensitive and kind hearted woman full of love for her family and friends, she kept a close circle. Being the first-born cousin in a large clan was something she cherished, she loved all her grandparents, parents, cousins, siblings and nieces. She had a special bond with her two nieces, Allison and Rebecca, from the moment they were born.

She was fiercely protective of us all, being sure to give her "highly informed" directions in all situations pertaining to anything... (thank you, Gramma Patry). In particular circumstances she would give you such a stink eye but if you needed it; give you the shirt off her back. She was a terrible driver, scary and full of (mostly) appropriate, road rage. She loved making/restoring jewelry and antiques using her artistic eye. Finding many projects at yard sales with her mom and sister was one of her favorite pass times. She loved music, especially Erica Badu, Queen/ ABBA, B-52s, Santana, Enya, along with listening to sounds of rain falling.. She always had something playing. She loved gardening, keeping a large garden was always something she strived for every year. She also found joy in cooking and baking, always finding new recipes and experimenting and sharing with her family.

The last 10 years of her life were the happiest while sharing a home with Bess, Chris and the girls. She is missed deeply and thought of often.

A remembrance of Jessica will be held at her home. Saturday, August 31st from 11-4, 4775 VT Route 36, Fairfield VT 05455. All who loved Jess and want to come, please know you are welcome. If you have any photo(s) of Jess we will have a scanner set up to copy them as well as a book for loved ones to record memories, thoughts or prayers. Sandwiches and drinks will be provided, feel free to bring a dish and/or a flower for a Jessica bouquet.

Marti, Steve, David, and Bess, Oh, how you must miss Jess! She was so special and so much fun! I am so sorry for your loss. Jess was a wonderful and unique friend. We shared a passion for Robin of Sherwood and were both hopelessly in love with Michael Praed, the show's first Robin. The music of the show by Clannad (Enya's family and her starting place) was the subject of our first joint shopping adventure. We shared books and I still have and treasure the origami gold unicorn that she made for me when we were reading Tannith Lee's Unicorn series. One of my favorite memories of Jess was on one of our lunch dates: I was talking about learning a Scottish schottische and she laughed and called it a "SHcotish schottische" decreeing that we were to talk like that for the rest of the day - pronouncing all our s's as "sh". Unfortunately, we had not ordered our meals yet and we had to try to order without using the letter s because the rule had been made and we had agreed to follow it! I am sure the waiter thought we were crazy because we started laughing hysterically as soon as he walked away! Our other shared interest was role playing games on the computer. We would go on these virtual adventures, collect a lot of virtual treasure, including virtual weapons and armor, and then we would pause to "play Barbie" as Jess called it which meant swapping around the virtual armor and accessories to dress up our virtual players. After all, the sapphire belt had to go with the sapphire boots and the topaz shield clashed with the ruby sword. I lost contact with Jess when I got married and moved away and have missed her over the years. Her smile and laugh will continue to live and be cherished in my memories.
Love to you,
Claire
