Obituary for Carol Elaine Dielman (Smith)

Carol Elaine “Mamzie” (Smith) Dielman, 78, of Edgewater, Florida passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 18th in Burlington, Vermont while visiting family.

Carol was born in Rochester, Indiana on August 4, 1940 to the late Hudson David and Iness Ludema (Good) Smith. From an early age, her parents and grandparents instilled in her a strong sense of family. Her greatest joy was her family.

A creative and talented woman, Carol was a professional seamstress, a masterful chef, and a gifted artist who enjoyed working with charcoal to draw pictures inspired by her grandchildren. Carol devoted herself to her family, always putting their needs above her own. Carol spent many years compiling the family’s genealogy, searching and sharing all she found. Always seeking a deeper understanding of life, she dedicated herself to studying scriptures and other texts. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and dedication. Always reaching out to others in need, her caring heart and generosity will be greatly missed by all whom were blessed enough to call her Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin or friend.

She leaves her daughters Deborah (Stephen) Dye of Lafayette, Indiana; Charith (Joseph) Zickmund of Barre, Vermont; Bethany Spano of Edgewater, Florida; and son Daniel (Audrey) Dielman of Edgewater, Florida as well as 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Sisters Charlotte (Bud) Overfield of Sharpsville, Indiana; Sonia (OT) Fillyaw of Live Oak, Florida; and brother Gary (Avenell) Smith of Akron, Indiana along with many nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert Dielman (2008) and son in law Donald Spano (2019).

Interment will take place at Plainview Cemetery in Macy, Indiana at a later date.
