Tom - Your dad was a very special man, and I send you my condolences at this time of his passing. Although he was never my professor, I did utilize his expertise in the adjunct's office, especially with my first runs of 'Advanced English Grammar' using a a text with no answer book.! Bob was a wonderful colleague, and a good friend. He was courageous in living, and in facing his dying - a real role model for me and for many. I wish you well in this time of transition.

Tom, I am sorry for your loss. Your father held a special place in many peoples hearts including mine. Always thoughtful he would bring my son a doughnut every week of his Kindergarten year and talk to him like he was his very own family. He always had the right thing to say, listened completely and his memory retained everything. His kind soul and wit can never be replaced. You are lucky to call him your father, he was so proud of you. I wish you peace.

Dear Tom and Family:

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy at this difficult time. I worked for many years with Bob in the Applied Linguistics Department at Saint Michael's College. It is hard to believe that he will no longer be among us. He was such a gracious man.

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing someone in death is one of the most devastating experiences one can face. Something that brings me comfort is found at John 5:28, 29, and Revelation 21:4. In these verses, it highlights that God is going to bring about a resurrection of our dear loved ones, and he will remove all causes for suffering, including death. May that beautiful hope bring comfort to your family during this difficult time.

Our condolences to Tom and Bob's family. We knew Bob thru St.Mary's Church and he was a truly beautiful and gentle man. We enjoyed our conversations with Bob after Mass. Bob was our youngest son's Confirmation instructor too. He always asked about our son after he grew up. Rest in Peace Bob.

Hi Tom
We met your dad twice in September this year when we were on holiday from Glasgow visiting Elizabeth and Wayne. He was a person who made such an impression on us that we will never forget him and the bravery that he had during his illness, making sure he enjoyed every minute of his life. An example to us all. We went to the wonderful house you designed for him. What a beautiful gift to give him, and he was so proud of you. He told us all about your time in Glasgow at the Mackintosh School of Art and your life and career. We feel as though we know you too although we’ve never met. That was the power of his narrative. We talked a lot about the name Fox and the fact that we know a father and son who are both Tom Fox. I’m sure much of your father lives on in you Tom and we hope that brings you much comfort. Dear Tom,

Although we have never met before, I have heard a lot about you from your parents. Please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family.

Dr. Fox was my professor in my master’s work in the late 90’s, and brought me an immense influence not only as a scholar, but also an open and friendly teacher. He gave me a great deal of encouragement and support when I had difficulty with my academic work, especially upon submitting a thesis as one of the first candidates to graduate with the thesis option. He was also proud of me when I shared the news some years ago that I completed a doctorate. He mentioned, “Congratulations, Dr. Masa.” in his reply, and we promised to see in person soon.

I have uploaded several pictures on this site from my VT collection. Those are my beautiful memories in my 20’s. I hope they may recall some of Dr. Fox’s footsteps. He will be truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dr. Fox was a great teacher. I was his students for two different courses at Saint Michael's College. I enjoyed the linguistics class and the wealth of knowledge he had. I shall treasure the memories I have of him. My most poignant memory is when we celebrated at his house at the end of the academic year. He was very proud of his son design of the house; I will sadly miss Prof. Fox.
