Obituary for Richard Grover Perkins

Johnson - Richard Grover Perkins, 92 passed away on Tuesday August 21, 2018 at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. He was born on December 17, 1925 in Johnson son of the late Grover and Josie (Brickett) Perkins. Richard was proud to have served his country during WWII as a member of the U.S. Army. He married the former Helaine Hubbard on August 13, 1950. He had been employed as a section foreman with the St. Johnsbury and Lamoille County Railroad. Richard had a love for pets and his children. He loved gardening vegetables and donated many canned vegetables from his garden to the members of the community and the food shelf. He enjoyed helping Helaine with her flower garden. Richard looked forward to fishing all the pristine Vermont lakes, ponds and streams. He also enjoyed wood working and as an enthusiastic artist painted with oils and acrylics. He was also a long time Masonic member of the Waterman Lodge #83 of Johnson, Eastern Star Chapter 65 OES Johnson, Legion Post #46 of Johnson and Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees.

Richard is survived by his sons David Perkins of Johnson, Brian Perkins and his wife Pam of North Carolina, his grandchildren, Matthew Perkins and wife Beth, Christopher Perkins and wife Claudia; Andrew Perkins and wife Aryelle, Giles Perkins, Jenifer Baker, Jason Pitts, his sister-in-law Patricia Hubbard, 3 nephews Bill & Eileen Perkins, Mike Blanchard, Eugene & Gene Childers, 2 nieces, Susie & Craig Mugford, Eleanor & Clint Casavant and several cousins.

Richard was also predeceased by his loving wife Helaine (Hubbard) Perkins on March 13, 2016. Also, his siblings Roger Perkins, Hazel Stewart, Joyce Blanchard, Florence Brown and Virginia Perkins.

Per Richards wishes no visiting hours will be held. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Johnson. Inurnment will follow in the family lot in Lamoille View Cemetery, Johnson next to his beloved wife Helaine.
