Deer Hunting

Story from Leon King

He liked deer hunting when he could go. He shot 10 bucks in his lifetime. The smallest one was a spike horn of 120 pounds, 3 more spike horns ranging from 125-140 pounds, four 3 point bucks in the same weight range and one 7 pointer at 147 pounds.

His largest deer was a 5 pointer at 180 pounds. He was going from the barn to the house one morning to eat breakfast and saw the deer up the road. He went to the house to get his field glasses and saw that the deer had horns. He put on his slippers and grabbed his 30-30 Winchester rifle and told mother to drive him up the road to where Alan's house now stands. He got out of the car and went over the stone wall. The deer looked at him and turned straight away from him so that all he could see was the rear end. He armed the rifle and shot one time. The bullet went the whole length of the deer's body to the lungs and the deer dropped in it's tracks.
