Obituary for Roger Ernest Paul LaPierre

Roger Ernest Paul LaPierre age 76, a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2018 at Green Mountain Nursing Home with his family by his side.

Roger was born in Shelburne on May 28, 1941, son of the late Ernest LaPierre and Juliette (Boutin) LaPierre. Roger attended the Burlington School District and then went on to Barber School and received his Vermont Barber license in June of 1962 to become the youngest barber in Vermont. Spending the next year working for barbershops around the Burlington area. In 1963 he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1967. While in the Navy he served as the ships on board barber as well as enjoying titles of chess champion and light weight boxing championship. He told many stories of his time spent in the Navy.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football and spending time with his friends and family.

Roger owned his own barbershops for several years. He decided to go out on his own as a general contractor specializing in painting and wall papering. He liked to “tinker” around and invent many useful household items that his family always enjoyed. While working as a painter he invented and received a patent on a paint roller/loading system that he frequently used while working.

Roger was a dedicated lifelong member of the Community Bible/Vibrant Church in So. Burlington, Vermont. He dedicated his live to his Christian belief and never wavered in his love of the Lord. He read his Bible daily and lived his life by the word of the Scriptures.

Roger married Sandra LaFlam on November 4, 1967. Together they had three beautiful children, Michael and his wife Lori, Christine and Mark all from Burlington. He also leaves his four grandchildren that he adored and was so proud of: Lorna, Jamie, Emma and Noah.
He also leaves 4 siblings; two brothers; Larry and his wife Mary, David and his wife Anne, Two sisters; Theresa Brice and Lillian and her husband Peter Smith. Several nieces and nephews and many extended family member as well as many friends …

He will be greatly missed by all.

He was also predeceased by his brother in law Nelson Brice and his nephew Eric LaPierre.

The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and nurses at University Medical Center ICU, Especially Nurse Carmen…Also thank you to the staff at Green Mountain Nursing Home.

A Service will be held at Community Bible/Vibrant Church 2025 Williston Road, So Burlington, on Friday, February 2nd at 11:00 am. There will be a celebration of his life immediately following.
