Zelia Gaboriault Parizo, 107, wife of the late Ernest F. Parizo, of Burlington, formerly of Essex Junction, passed away May 8th, 2014 at the Converse Home in Burlington. She was born on October 22, 1906 in St. Sebastien, Quebec. She was the daughter of the late Napoleon Gaboriault and Bertha Pinsonneaut.
At the age of eight her family migrated from Canada to start a farm in Elmore, VT. She worked as a burler at the Winooski Woolen Mill for many years. In her later years she cared for her grandchildren with whom she formed a close life long bond. She was a communicant of the Holy Family Parish in Essex Junction for many years, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was especially close to her family with whom she spent summers traveling to visit them all of the United States.
She is survived by her granddaughter Marijane Parizo Gryk of South Windsor, CT and her husband Anthony, daughter in law Mary Ann Holland Parizo, great grandsons Shawn Gryk, Tyler and Brett Parizo of SC .One great great grandson - Benjamin Parizo of SC, she is also survived by her sisters in laws, Liilian Gaboriault and Belle (Parizo) Whitney and several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her son Bernard E. Parizo, her grandson Paul E. Parizo and her great grandson Brian H. Gryk, her siblings, Neil, Wilfred, Ernest , Maria, Stanislas, Alfred, Adelord Gaboriault, , Lillian Gaboriault (Gosselin) Gilbert Gaboriault (Bourgeois) , Emile, Eugene,Conrad, Leon and Antoinette Gaboriault.
There will be no visiting hours held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday May 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Essex Junction with Reverend Charles Ranges, S.S.E. officiating. Inurnment will follow in the family lot in Holy Family Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Zelia’s memory may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 8442, Essex Jct., VT 05451.
