Lawrence P. Soutiere, 89 passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013 at his home in Winooski surrounded by his family.
Larry was born on September 7, 1924 in Winooski, the son of the late Osias and Hortense (Campbell) Soutiere.
Larry served his country in WW II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a man of many trades throughout his life. He was a milkman, alongside his father, carpenter, cabinet maker, bread man, and postal clerk where he retired. He and his wife of 50 years enjoyed being in the Islands and being snowbirds heading south to Florida.
Larry is survived by his dear friend Mona Bosley, children – Linda Soutiere, Jacqueline Greenwood and husband Steven, Daniel Soutiere and his wife Barbara, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, brothers; Bernard, Ronald, sisters; Pauline, Lucille, and Theresa, Aunt Rita, brother and sister-in-laws, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife; Yvette Rocheleau, son; Lawrence Soutiere, Jr., grand-daughter; Amber Soutiere, brothers; Clement, Robert, Edward, Norman & Maurice, sisters; Annette and Claire.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Carol Green-Hernandez from the VA along with the Hospice Staff at the VNA.
There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski, Vermont with Monsignor Lavalley officiating. A reception will follow at the RVA on Weaver Street in Winooski.
Memorial Contributions in Larry’s memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Rd., Bethesda, Md. 20814, in Amber Soutiere’s honor.
