Obituary for Norman Raymond Pratt

Essex Junction - Norman Raymond Pratt, 70, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018, in the loving arms of his family, following a long battle with cancer. He was born on May 7, 1948 to the late Raynold and Reseda (Lareau) Pratt.

Norm grew up on the family farm in Cornwall, Vermont, where he had fun playing pranks on his siblings. After high school, he loved playing music with his band traveling around Vermont and New York. Norm had a life-long love of cars and worked in the auto industry for many years at Paquin Motors, wearing many hats.

Norm enjoyed spending time in the summer at his camp in Isle La Motte and enjoyed car rides “looking for deer.” He loved playing golf with his son, Chris, and especially enjoyed the drinks after. In his earlier years, he loved getting into mischief with the “gang” from the old neighborhood. You could often find Norm cooking up delicious creations in the kitchen on Sundays, usually enough to feed an army. He loved family gatherings and always tried to please everyone around him. He was selfless and would give the shirt off his back for family or friends. Norm had a dry and sarcastic sense of humor and you never quite knew when he was serious.

Norm is survived by his son, Chris Pratt and wife Jessica, and his daughter, Megan Pratt, who has been there with love and support for her Dad in every way for the past two years during his illness. He also leaves behind his three brothers, John and Mary Pratt, Mark Pratt, Gerald and Dodi Pratt, his sister Jackie Downing, the mother of his children, Kathy Provencher, and special family members - Patricia and Thomas Bailey, who graciously opened their home and provided loving care and kindness to Norm during his illness, Mary Provencher and Ruth Uphold, two grandchildren, Alyssa and Kelsi Pratt and his affectionate feline, Pixie.

The family wishes to thank the VNA Hospice, Doctors Steven Ades, Janet Ely and staff, and Drs. Mark Plante and Amy McGettrick.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at A.W. Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel. Memorial contributions in Norman’s memory may be made to the Cancer Research Institute - https://www.cancerresearch.org.
