Obituary for Jane Barbara Nesbitt

Jane Barbara Nesbitt born July 14, 1952 in Trenton, New Jersey, passed away at the University of Vermont Medical Center on the 4th of August 2018 with her family by her side.

She is survived by her long-time partner John Fleischer of Milton Vermont; daughter Dreolin Fleischer, son-in-law Travis Coan, and her two granddaughters Riley Olivia and Gwendolyn Jane of Exeter, England. She is also survived by her sister Venerable Thubten Semkye of Newport, Washington and brother Brian Nesbitt and his wife Lisa of Doylestown, Pennsylvania and their two children Garrett and Victoria.

Jane graduated from Goddard College with a B.A. and earned a Master’s in non-profit management from Marlboro College. Her positivity and willingness to take on the hardest challenges made her a valued colleague. She was also committed to helping her community, both through her choice of working for local non-profitsand through volunteering.

Her brave heart and sense of adventure were most evident on her many travels across the United States, Canada, Ireland, France, and most recently England. At the age of 56, Janespent several months living in Rwanda. This trip was a long-time dream of Jane’s and she had the courage to make it a reality.When not working or travelling, she enjoyed gardening, playing the fiddle in the Vermont Fiddle Orchestra, and being with friends. She cultivated closefriendships in every phase of her life and will be missed by many. She is remembered as someone who always gave life her best effort.

John and Dreolin will be holding a Celebration of Life at Jane and John’s home on Saturday, August 18th from 3-6PM at 17 Cherry Street, Milton. If you are local, please bring a small offering of food for the party. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in her memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
