I met Joe and Trudy through the Green Mountain Civil War Round Table annual bus trips to Civil War sites. Traveling with them was a tremendously enjoyable experience. Joe's wit, humor, and storytelling made the long hours on the bus pass quickly. I will always remember him fondly. My thoughts and prayers are with Trudy and the other members of Joe's family at this difficult time.

Herb & Ginger
We met Joe and Trudy about 20 years ago. Sometime later they "adopted us". We have really felt like part of their family. We enjoyed visiting with them in Vermont, Florida and New York. A few of those years we traveled with them to the Florida Keys and the Adirondacks (those were very memorable trips). And, for many years, the four of us went on annual Civil War bus trips with a VT group. Joe was a pard of Herb's in the Hemlocks. He very enjoyed his time "in the wool". Joe was a very special man. He had experienced a lot in his long, rich life. And some of what he had seen and done - WOW! He was always quick to point out that Trudy was the one who kept him straight! He loved her and his family very much. It was the most important thing to him. He longed to return to the Adirondack woods and to the Keys but knew that it was now beyond what he could manage. We were fortunate to be able to enjoy another good visit with Joe shortly before he passed. He is now at rest and with his family and friends who have gone before. We will miss him dearly but will always treasure our fond memories of time spent with a great man.
