Obituary for William E. Allard Jr.

William E. Allard Jr., 84, of Essex, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, March 11, 2018. Dr. Allard was born in Littleton, NH to William and Orilla (Tromblay) Allard, the second of six children, and was raised in Rutland, VT. He leaves his wife Rosalie (Schifano) who he married in Rochester, NY in May 1959. He was educated at the University of Vermont and worked as a family doctor in Montpelier, VT for more than 30 years and as the Medical Director for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont. Bill was an avid fly fisherman, a talented cook and bread baker, a voracious reader, and an avid crossword puzzler. He was known for his sharp intellect and warm, generous heart.

He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, five children including Kathy Whelan (Steve) of Westwood, MA; Marc Allard(Liz Callison) of Alexandria, Virginia; Sue Allard (Irv Grossman) of Long Island City, NY; Matt Allard (Robin) of Brentwood, NH, and Paul Allard (Bridget) of Underhill, VT, as well as eight beloved grandchildren including Anna, Michelle, Stevie, Micheal, Emma, Andrew, Tressia, Daniel, and Michael (pre-deceased) and his five siblings: Marge Allard, Judith Allard, Barbara Giancola (Joe), Mary Allard (Jim Reid), and John Allard (Abby) as well as many nieces and nephews.
