Obituary for Raymond C. Hayden

Raymond C. Hayden, 90, of Essex Junction passed away on February 18, 2018 at Starr Farm Nursing Home in Burlington. He was born in Hinesburg on October 3, 1927 son of the late Archibald and Hazel M. (Atherton) Hayden. He was educated in Hinesburg. On January 6, 1951 Raymond married the former Alice M. Northrup. Raymond retired after 27 years in facilities at IBM in Essex Junction. He was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge of Hinesburg and a veteran of WWII & Korean War.

Raymond loved doing things with his family like Saturday night card games, Sunday rides, beach times, cookouts and having children around. His home was open to all.

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Alice M. (Northup) Hayden of Essex Junction.

He is survived by 10 children and their spouses: Dennis Hayden & Diana Davis of Barton; Brenda & Jay Friend of Duxbury; Thomas & Joyce Hayden of Milton; Stephen & Cynthia Hayden of Fairfax; Laura & Donald Rose of Colchester; Gary & Susan Hayden of Essex; Nancy & Robert Saulniers of Maine; Chris Hayden & Sandra Ross of Georgia, VT; Cindy Hayden & Michael Reilly of Underhill; Lindy (Hayden) Bushey of Essex, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild, a sister Nina Sprano of Hinesburg as well as many nieces & nephews.

He was also predeceased by his grandson, Bryan Gokey; 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Erwin Hayden, Lyle Hayden, Ivan Hayden, Avis Bessette and Evelyn Brace.
