Mary Anna Engel (Krajci)
Mary Anna (Krajci) Engel, 84, of Essex passed away on January 5, 2018 at Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home in Burlington. She was born in New York City on August 11, 1933 daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Bugala) Krajci.
She attended St John's grade school and High School of Commerce in NYC and learned hair styling. During high school she worked at New York hospital working in the kitchen. After high school she worked at Vincent and Anton's Hair Salon, Madison Ave, NYC. She married Kenneth Engel at St. John's Church, NYC in 1955. After her son was born she then was a house wife and enjoyed taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and crossword puzzles. After her and her husband retired, they moved to their summer house in Elizaville, NY. Kenneth her husband, of 49 years, predeceased her in 2004 after which she move to Vermont to be closer to her son and family. She lived in Jeffersonville, until 2015 and then moved to Mansfield Place in Essex.
Mary is survived by her son James Engel and wife Cindy, grandson Erik Engel all of Cambridge, 3 nieces Linda Raynor and husband Clifford of New York, Andrea York of New York, Amelia Nilsen and husband Tore of Norway.
She was also predeceased by her siblings: Joseph Krajci, Henry Krajci and Amelia Margetanski.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 19, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel, 57 Main Street, Essex Junction, VT 0452.
