Condolence From: Dr. Dan Bean
Condolence: I first met Lefty over coffee in the St. Mike's coffee shop where he was doing a little homework. I was curious about finding him there so introduced myself and joined him. We quickly connected over his marine service (I had been a navy Corpsman with the First Div in 1955-6.) Over the years he studied at St. Mike's we had more coffees and more stories. Our last brief meeting was before a recent SMC Playhouse play so I was surprised to hear via the Marine Corps League of his passing. I will miss the opportunity to meet Lefty now but will always remember his enthusiasm toward studying and of course baseball. He never tired of showing me his latest MVP card from the leagues he attended. I'm sure he touched all those he met in special ways and will be present in many memories.

Condolence From: Sandy Ellis
Condolence: I send my condolences in the death of your loved one. There may be no words to truly express sympathy for your grief. I pray that you will take some comfort in the real hope that the Bible gives of being reunited again with your loved one. (2 Corinthians 1:2-4)

In the Bible at John 5:28, 29 it reads, "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". Yes, the Bible promises that your loved one will come back to life again in the resurrection. (Acts 24:15)
According to the Bible, soon death will be no more. (Revelation 21:3, 4)

Sincerely,

Sandy Ellis

Condolence From: Chris & Carol Polakowski
Condolence: We first met Coach Lefty when he was working at a basketball camp that our son Jason attended at St. Mike's, probably around 1999, when Jason was about 10. Jason really liked Coach Lefty and we enjoyed talking with him. Then we found out he lived in our neighborhood and once we were invited in to see the Christmas Village all lit up! I enjoyed hearing Lefty's stories about baseball and thought it was so cool that he went to Notre Dame at his age to take classes. A wonderful man and role model for our community and youth with his approach to sports and coaching. Thinking of you all. Coach Lefty lived a wonderful life!
